Born Amba Jessica Reid in the Autumn of 1995, the young songstress to-be, was raised with her sister Renee by her mother Kim, in the heart of one of South London’s thriving towns, West Norwood. At the tender age of just 4 years old, the singer’s passion for music saw her belting out her favourite karaoke songs at the top of her voice in her living room. It was at this point that her parents and close family members knew that she had a gift.

Amba began to take music seriously in school after selecting the subject to study at GSCE level. Anything musical she could immerse herself in, she would. School concerts, performing to classmates when the opportunity presented itself and participating in all school shows.

During Amba’s later teenage years, she decided to start her own YouTube channel, predominantly to sing covers by some of her biggest inspirations: these included Jessie J, Frank Ocean and Adele who still remain some of Amba’s favourite artists. During this period, Amba was convinced to try her hand at writing her own music – a step that would go on to change her life as she began to discover different ways in which to deliver her story.

The songstress’s sound and outlook has grown, changed and adapted due to some of her more recent influences, including Rihanna, Jhene Aiko and Alicia Keys. Due to her experiences and the studying and refinery of her craft, Amba has grown into the RnB-Soul princess she is today who’s sultry yet classy delivery, lures in and captivates her audience.

At just 25 years old, Amba has received recognition and appreciation from a range of multi-genre musicians, including Dr Vades, K-Trap and Etta Bond. After broadening her creative horizons and joining forces with the likes of Taneisha Jackson (Louisa Johnson), Meleka & Mars Moniz (Nio Garcia). Amba’s debut single ‘6 o’clock’ was produced by East-London producer ‘WhoElse’, received over 10,000 YouTube video views and was picked up by specialist and daytime radio across most of your favourite stations! As we gear up for a signatory body of work in the form of Amba’s debut EP ‘Mixed Emotions’, anticipation runs high and it’s growingly apparent that the R&B space has a new star!
